For many, wearing braces on their teeth to straighten and align them is not a treatment choice they would like to consider. Perhaps they are concerned with the appearance of the wires and brackets? In the past this has meant that people with crooked teeth may have had extensive restorative work to correct misalignment instead of orthodontics. Straightening teeth with Invisalign, which uses almost invisible clear aligners, has opened up orthodontic treatment to far more people.
Invisalign uses clear aligners to gently guide your teeth into alignment. We are able to use the very best of technology with this treatment too. We scan your teeth using the Itero scanner and then we can show you digitally how we can take your teeth from where they are now to the finished completed alignment.
Aligners are constructed from this digital design and then fitted at the practice. You change your aligners every few weeks yourself at home, each change of aligner seeing more progression of movement. We then review your progress every 10-12 weeks in the practice.
For best results aligners need to be worn for at least 20 hours a day but they can be removed for eating and perhaps if you have an important function. However, most people will be unaware you are having an Invisalign treatment as the aligners are almost invisible.
Invisalign treatments vary in length from a few weeks to several months, when we discuss your treatment options we are able to estimate your treatment time which allows you to plan when to start your treatment if you have a big event coming up such as a wedding.
Invisalign uses very gently pressure to move teeth into alignment so there is very little discomfort. You will be aware of the aligners to start with but after a few days you will soon forget they are there.
Treatment times depend on the type and amount of tooth movements we are needing to use. A simple crooked tooth may move within a matter of weeks, more complex movements may take several months. The beauty with this digital treatment planning is that we are able to estimate how long your treatment will take.
Invisalign aligners cost between £1750 and £3000 depending on the types of movement required. Our team will spend time to ensure you have a good guide as to your treatment costs before you start any treatment.
After your Invisalign is complete, there remains a possibility that your teeth may move back towards their original position. This is called relapse. To stop this happening you will receive three sets of Vivero retainers with full instructions as to wear time.
